Platform purpose
Verigear is a serial-number verification and stolen-gear registry for camera equipment and related second-hand gear in South Africa. It lets owners register stolen items and lets buyers check a serial number before purchasing. Verigear is not a marketplace, does not facilitate payments or listings, and is not a law enforcement agency.
Your responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account or reporting stolen gear. Filing a false theft report is a misuse of the platform and may result in your account being suspended, and may expose you to legal liability. You agree to use Verigear only for lawful purposes, including not using tips or reporter information to harass or threaten another user.
No guarantee of accuracy
Verigear’s registry is only as complete as the reports submitted to it. A “clean” result means no report was found — it does not guarantee the item was never stolen, was legally acquired, or is free of any defect. A “stolen” result reflects a report submitted by another user and has not been independently verified by Verigear or the police. We make no warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy or completeness of any information on the platform.
No liability for purchase decisions
Verigear is not a party to any transaction between a buyer and a seller. Any decision to buy, sell, or trade an item based on information from Verigear is made entirely at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Verigear and its operators are not liable for any loss, damage, or dispute arising from a transaction, including purchases of items that later turn out to be stolen or misrepresented.
Account termination
We may suspend or terminate an account that misuses the platform, including submitting false reports or abusing the tip system. Reports already submitted remain in the registry even if an account is terminated, so that buyers continue to be warned.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use of Verigear after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
